Luis was born in Caracas, Venezuela and grew up in Miami Florida. He earned his BFA in Visual Arts at the Miami International University of Art & Design and his MFA in painting from the University of Hartford in Connecticut. He creates collages and paintings which may also include digital elements, oils, acrylics, wax and other embellishments. He explores the disparity of social and economic issues between the US and Venezuela, where he visits often. Luis lives with his wife, Kristin, in Austin, Texas where he serves as General Manager for Imago Dei Austin.

Kristin grew up in Magnolia, Texas. She recieved her BFA in Fine Art at the Miami International University of Art & Design. She worked as a sculptor for a scale model firm in Florida. Her personal work includes paintings in acrylic, watercolor and mixed media.
